The documentary “Behind Closed Doors” is not coming to Netflix

The documentary “Behind Closed Doors” by an obscure and unknown group is not coming to Netflix. It will however most likely find its way to their own YouTube channel – with around 107,000 subscribers – not Netflix though.

Some facts:

1. Not coming on Netflix

2. Not coming on any other streaming service

3. May appear on YouTube page of producers

4. Does not have an IMDB page

5. Producers used crowdfunding to finance it

6. Netflix claim made by accounts with pro PTI leanings

Few tweets by a journalist based in Islamabad who is a staunch (set-professed) supporter of PTI & a London-based individual who claims to be a journalist but who mostly makes propaganda content for the party and churns out fake news favouring it have claimed that documentary titled “Behind Closed Doors” on alleged corruption by the Sharifs will be “released soon on Netflix”. This is fake news. A trailer for a documentary has been released on a YouTube channel. Other documentaries have also been posted here

However, there is nothing to suggest that “Behind Closed Doors” will be released on Netflix, other than the claim by two pro PTI accounts. We spoke to experts who have produced documentaries in the west and they said that the production quality of this one left much to be desired

They said it was very unlikely that Netflix would release it and that in the last all documentaries made by the production team had been released only on their own satellite channel and did not feature on any OTT streaming service let alone Nextflix.

From the looks of it, the documentary may well have been funded by interests sympathetic to the party itself given that it presents a very one-sided view targeting one particular ruling family of Pakistan & given how the trailer’s release has played out on Pakistani social media

More on the “Behind Closed Doors” ‘documentary’. It is asking people for funding yet it is apparently going to be released on Netflix – as claimed by several accounts sympathetic to the PTI and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. It also has no IMDB page and its makers are ostensibly seeking funds through crowdfunding even as several accounts sympathetic to the PTI claim that it will soon be coming on Netflix

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister is tweeting a claim that has been debunked and is false. The so-called documentary which doesn’t even have an IMDB page is not being released on any OTT platform. At most it will be in YouTube on a channel that the producers apparently run.
