Picture of Czech model suspect falsely shown as Belgian rape victim
A social media user shared the fake image of a woman who claimed to be a Belgian citizen and alleged that she was sexually assaulted in Islamabad.
Faraz Pervaiz, a Pakistani-Christian who claims to be based in Bangkok, Thailand, shared the image on his social media account X, formerly Twitter.
“Belgian women sexually Assaulted for 5 Days by Muslims in Pakistan. The victim was found with her hands tied in Sector G-6 and was rescued by local police after a citizen alerted authorities in Islamabad,” said the post, which has been viewed an astounding 1.4 million times.
Fact Check Pakistan has verified that that picture is not of the alleged sexual assault victim. A Google Reverse search revealed news report from 2019 when a foreigner woman was sentenced to jail for allegedly possessing drugs.
The picture is of Tereza Hluskova, a Czech model convicted for attempting to smuggle heroin from Pakistan to Ireland.
Tereza Hluskova was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison in Lahore. The then 22-year-old Czech model was arrested in possession of 8.5 kg of heroin in January 2018 at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. She was acquitted in November 2021.
