Pervez Khattak denies quitting politics, dissolving PTI-P
Pervez Khattak has denied reports that he has quit politics and dissolving the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P) party after a dismal performance in the general elections.
Although the rumour mills were ride, the former PTI leader rejected reports suggesting his departure from politics after a drubbing in the national elections held on February 8.
While speaking to Samaa TV, Khattak categorically denied claims of quitting the party or retiring from politics. He emphasized that such reports were baseless and misleading, asserting his continued commitment to public service.
Regarding speculation surrounding his resignation, the PTIP chief clarified that there was no truth to the rumors circulating about his withdrawal from politics or departure from the party. He acknowledged the election results and said he accepted the outcome with humility.
Also quoted by Dawn news, PTI-P spokesperson Ziaullah said the reports about Khattak quitting the politics were baseless. “I just spoke to Mr Khattak, who denied issuing any such statement,” he said.
Notably, Khattak faced defeat in the general elections, resulting in the PTIP securing only two seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Last year, Khattak had formed a separate faction named PTI Parliamentarians subsequent to parting ways with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The results were shocking for two former chief ministers, Khattak and Mahmood Khan, as both of them lost their seats in their home districts of Nowshera and Swat, respectively.
