Notification of four-day Eid holidays is fake
A notification circulating on social media stating that government has announced four-day holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr is FAKE.
The notification purportedly by the Cabinet Division states that the government has declared holidays from April 9-12, 2024 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Fact Check Pakistan determined the notification is fake and the government has not officially announced Eid holidays.
It was also observed that the notification is filled with typographical errors as government has been misspelled as ‘Governmnent”, cabinet as “Cabinenet”, and secretariat as “Secrtriat”.
In fact, even Eid-ul-Fitr has been misspelled as “Eid-ul-Fitter”
Therefore, it has determined the said notification is fake and should not be considered as public announcement.
A spokesperson for Ministry of Interior confirmed the notification is is fake and that a decision on the holidays is yet to be taken and will be formally announced.
