Journalist issues clarification after picture with DG ISI spreads online

A journalist has strongly denied social media propaganda after a picture circulated of him with DG ISI Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum.

The picture shared on social media show a man dressed in a military uniform with the incumbent DG ISI with a caption that his “instruction” has been followed.

Soon after the images circulated on social media, journalist Saddam Tufail released a video and denied the accusations against him.

He said the picture relates to 2017 when he was hosting a programme on Express News, covering the army’s efforts in Balochistan. He said the video of the original show can still be viewed on YouTube.

Saddam Tufail clarified that he has never been an employee of the Pakistan Army. In fact, he said the picture was taken several years ago when he was hosting a TV show.

He said he was a clean shaven back then as compared to the bearded look now as shown in the video. He slammed those who were running the baseless accusations against him.

The allegations seemed to have come from former PTI MNA Jamshed Dasti who made the startling allegation that law enforcement agencies had stripped his wife and held his children hostage. Police have also denied the allegations and said Dasti has been evading arrests in different cases.
