Indian PM Modi has not announced ‘special aid package’ for Afghanistan
A video show Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Israeli parliament, announcing a special aid package for Afghanistan, and calling the Taliban supreme leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada a ‘dear friend’
He is also heard saying that India and Israel will ensure that Afghanistan gets the security it needs to keep itself safe from terrorist hubs in the neighbourhood.

An X account, The Whistle Blower, that regularly spreads misinformation, posted the video on X, captioned, “Prime Minister Modi addresses the Israeli knesset,
“I am very happy to announce that in addition to the 8.6 billion dollars military agreement between India and Israel, we will have a special aid package for Afghanistan’s redevelopment. Their sufferings must end. India and Israel will ensure that Afghanistan gets the security it needs to keep itself safe from terrorist hubs in the neighbourhoods.”
A transcript of the Indian PM’s alleged script says,” What is happening all around the world, like what happened to Afghanistan recently, where civilians were killed by terrorists, it is a shame. India stands with our neighbours in Afghanistan.
“Haibatullah is a dear friend, and I am very happy to announce that in addition to the $8.6 billion military agreement between India and Israel, we will have a special aid package for Afghanistan’s redevelopment.
“The sufferings must end. India and Israel will ensure that Afghanistan gets the security it needs to keep itself safe from terrorist hubs in the neighborhoods.
Fact Check
The video is manipulated and has an AI-generated audio recording. The Indian PM has not offered any package for Afghanistan.
The video has a logo of Hindustan Times (HT) and Mint, while the Indian media outlets have not published the remarks. In his address, the Indian PM made no comments on Afghanistan or the Taliban.
Thus, the claim that Modi offered a “special aid package” for Afghanistan is false.
