Gaza airstrike video falsely claims Indian Army attack on Pakistan’s Sialkot

A video claiming the Indian army launched an attack on Sialkot, Pakistan is misleading and completely unrelated to the incident.

The video being widely shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows a series of explosions as people run for cover. The post shared by an India-based X user with the handle @kiranpatel1977 received nearly 1.5 million views.

The post can be viewed here.

The social media user claimed that it shows “new footage” released by news organisation Al Jazeera of the Indian Army’s attack in Sialkot.

Fact Check Pakistan determined the video dates back to November 2023 and shows the attack near the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza targeted in an Israeli airstrike.

We carried out a reverse image search on the viral video using Google Lens which led us to an X post by the Quds News Network.

The post carrying the same clip was shared as one of Israel bombing the “vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza strip.”

The footage is from Al Jazeera report on the airstrike that can be accessed on its YouTube channel with the keywords ‘Indonesia Hospital Gaza’.

The video titled ‘Injuries reported in Gaza’s Indonesian hospital’ carried a picture from the video as its thumbnail. The clip starts at the 5:07-minute mark in this report.

Thus, it can be concluded that an old, unrelated video from Gaza falsely claims to show the Indian Army’s attack in Sialkot.
