MISLEADING: PM Shehbaz Sharif did not shake hands with Israel’s PM Netanyahu

Social media users shared a fake and altered picture of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif supposedly shaking hands with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The picture was shared by several social media users on X, formerly Twitter, claiming that Pakistan has recognized Israel after the Gaza peace deal.

The picture is FAKE and digitally altered. 

The actual picture shows a meeting between PM Shehbaz Sharif and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Shaikh, Egypt.

It must be noted that Israeli PM Netanyahu was not in attendance at the Gaza peace summit hosted by Egypt and attended by world leaders including US President Donald Trump.

Thus, the claim that PM Shehbaz Sharif shook hands with PM Netanyahu is FAKE. The picture is edited and the Israeli PM was not present at the summit.
