FAKE NEWS: Yemen’s Houthis have not threatened Pakistan after Saudi defence pact, video is unrelated
India based social media accounts claimed that Yemen’s Houthi group has threatened Pakistan after the country signed the mutual defence agreement with Saudi Arabia.
It was also falsely claimed that Pakistan has deployed 25000 troops to the Saudi Yemen border. Both assertions are false.
An Indian social media user, known for his negative posts against Pakistan, shared the post with the following caption: “Tensions escalate after Pakistan sends 2,000 troops to the Saudi Yemen border under a few defence pact. Houthi fighters issued a stark threat, saying they will “turn the Yemen Saudi border into a graveyard for Pakistani soldiers,” raising fears of wider confrontation.”
The post includes a video a Houthi commander speaking in Arabic. The video is old and unrelated, and the Houthis have not issued any threat towards Pakistan.

Fact Check Pakistan found the video was posted on the Al Mayadeen News, a Lebanon based Arabic media outlet, published on May 14, 2024.
A description of the video when translated said: “Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed that Gaza is a red line and vowed to strike targets that the enemies cannot imagine it the aggression continues.”
The video shows the spokesperson of the Yemen’s Houthis forces issuing a threat supposedly to Israel over the Gaza war. The Houthis have launched several attacks towards Israel.
Fact Check Pakistan has determined that the video is unrelated and claims that Houthis have threatened Pakistan are FALSE.
