FAKE NEWS: Reports of ex-army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa ‘attacked’ at home are bogus
India-based social media accounts spread the fake news that former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was ‘attacked’ at his residence.
The rumours were shared by several social media users as seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
The claims are bogus, fabricated and completely unfounded, and part of a campaign to spread misinformation and malign the armed forces of Pakistan.
The false claims were spread after it was reported that the former army chief was hospitalised after suffering a head injury in a fall at his residence. No foul play is suspected and any reports indicating so are bogus

According to Geo News, “Former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after sustaining a head injury in a fall at his residence early Tuesday morning, according to family sources.
“Qamar Bajwa fell in the bathroom of his house at around 4:30am on Tuesday,” the family sources added. They said that the former army chief sustained head injuries and is currently under treatment in the ICU.
Dawn reported, that “Bajwa has been admitted to a military hospital after sustaining injuries in a fall at his home, according to an informed source.
It added, “Bajwa slipped at his residence and suffered multiple injuries, according to initial information. He was moved to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
He was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit, though the extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.
In a video message released on social media, the former army chief’s brother-in-law, Naeem Ghumman, said Bajwa was “barefoot when he slipped and suffered a head injury”.
He added that nothing “suspicious came up” following his medical examination, and all necessary tests were conducted. Ghumman stated that the former army chief is “100 per cent out of danger”.
The military’s press wing, ISPR, also issued a brief health update on the former army chief, saying, “Former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa sustained injuries due to a fall at his residence. He is currently undergoing treatment at CMH.”
