Fact Check: Video showing a man assaulting child is not from Pakistan
A social media user shared a video in which a man is seen violently assaulting a child, claiming the incident occurred at a school in Pakistan.
An X user, who regularly shares content against Pakistan, posted the video, captioned, “A shocking video from a modern school in Pakistan shows a teacher violently mistreating a young girl in uniform.
“The child cries & apologizes in Pashto, but the teacher keeps abusing her. Please be the voice of this innocent child, for her education & her human rights.”

The post claims the incident occurred at an elite school in Pakistan the student was a Pushtoon. The video intends to spread discord among ethnicities in Pakistan.
Fact Check Pakistan found the video is old, unrelated and has no connection with Pakistan. The incident occurred in Baghdad, Iraq in October this year.

A news report on Arabic Iraq based media outlet, Iraq Observer, shared the picture of the children being assaulted.
“A video circulating online shows a child screaming as a person is flogged, sparking widespread condemnation. The incident occurred in the Presidential District in the Al-Ubaidi area, east of Baghdad.
“The video was published by Ali Al-Abadi, head of the Human Rights Center, who appealed to the relevant authorities to take security measures.”

The video was posted by another X user on Oct 30 and shows the child speaking in Arabic. A translation of the caption says, “An Iraqi man beats his daughter mercilessly and films her.
Thus, the claim that the video shows a child being violently thrashed at a school in Pakistan is false. The video is old, unrelated, and has no connection to Pakistan.
