Fact Check: Video of riding an amphibious vehicle is not from Karachi
A social media user posted a video claiming that KMC workers are riding an amphibious vehicle on a sewerage canal in Karachi which capsized.
The caption of the post on X said, “Reportedly KMC Officers and the Mayor had their Titanic moment during an inspection tour of Gujjar Nullah Karachi.”
The user did not provide any explanation when the incident relates to Karachi and merely claimed it was available on social media. The video had the caption “Karachi News” in Urdu on it.
Fact Check Pakistan found the claim the incident happened in Karachi is FALSE. The video is over six years old and is from an incident in India.
A search revealed the incident is from Panaji, a town in Indian state of Goa. A YouTube video caption, “Panaji mayor escapes narrowly as amphibian machine capsize” has the same video footage.
