Fact Check: Indian actress Aishwarya Rai didn’t criticize PM Modi about war losses by Pakistan

A video on social media shows Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan allegedly criticizing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asking him questions about the downing of Rafale jets and war losses sustained during the brief war with Pakistan.

An X user, The Whistle Blower, shared a video, captioned, “Indian media is now being forced to delete this clip! Aishwariya Rai asks some very tough questions from PM Modi in Puttaparthi. Journalist Sanjiv Shukla has released this clip in a press group.”

In the video, Rai is heard saying, “I want to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi that why did we lose 6 jets to Pakistan? Why did we lose 4 Rafales to Pakistan? Why did we lose 2 S-400 systems to Pakistan? Why did we lose 300 soldiers to Pakistan? Why did we lose significant parts of our boundary in Kashmir and Rajasthan to Pakistan? Prime Minister, we know that the film fraternity does not get involved in politics, but this is something that the nation demands to know. You must tell us.”

Fact Check Pakistan determined the video is digitally altered with a voice dubbing of the actress.

The original video was posted on YouTube when Ms Rai addressed the centenary celebrations of an Indian spiritual leader. Indian PM Modi was also present on the occasion.

The video has no mention of Pakistan or the losses sustained during the brief war in May this year. Thus, the claim that Indian actress Aishwariya Rai asked tough questions from PM Modi about losses by Pakistan are FALSE.
