Fact Check: Indian army chief has not blamed Pakistan for Red Fort blasts

A social media user claimed that the Indian army chief has blamed Pakistan for the Red Fort blasts in New Delhi and announced to launch Operation Sindoor 2.0.

The X user posted a caption is Urdu loosely translated as, “India, after conducting an investigation, held Pakistan responsible for the Red Fort blasts and the Indian Army Chief announced a highly dangerous operation named Operation Sindoor 2 against Pakistan.”

The user posts a video of the Indian army chief General Upendra Dwivedi addressing a ceremony. A transcription of the video is as follows:

“The third issue is the connectivity and communication. As you are aware, NFS, I have already told you, OFC is something laid to a great extent and since we have the officer from ITVP, he would be aware that we have extended this facility also to the CAPFs so that after all we have to fight the battle together, so might as well get connected at the early stage. Sambhav, you are aware how it was used in Sindoor 1.0. Now we are going for the phase 2, which will be a much more advanced version.”

Fact Check

Fact Check Pakistan determined that the video does not show the Indian army chief blame Pakistan for the Red Fort blasts or announces to launch the second phase of Operation Sindoor, when Indian without any evidence launched strikes against Pakistan.

The Indian army chief is referring to Sambhav, which stands for Secure Army Mobile Bharat Version, a 5G-enabled mobile ecosystem developed by the Indian Army.

It was created to provide secure communication for military and an alternative to WhatsApp. India has reportedly used it during Operation Sindoor and talks with China to ensure data security and prevent leaks.

The Indian authorities, despite linking the Red Fort blasts as an act of terrorism, have not explicitly blamed Pakistan for the incident.

Thus, the claim that the Indian army chief has held Pakistan responsible for Red Fort blasts and announced to launch Operation Sindoor is FALSE.
