Deepfake video shows Pak military spokesperson ‘admitting’ two JF-17 jets shot down

A deep fake video shows the military spokesperson of the Pakistan Army admitting that the fighter jets of the Pakistan military have been shot down.

The alleged video shows military spokesperson Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressing the media.

In the video, the military spokesperson is heard saying that two JF-17 fighter aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force were regretfully shot down in the attack launched by India.

Fact Check Pakistan determines the video is deep fake with an audio recording dubbed over it. The voice over has an Indian accent that is unlike that of the Pakistani military official. The doctored video shows the audio is not lip-synced with the wordings and is manipulated.

The military spokesperson made no mention or admission of the plane being shot down. He stated that 25 Harop drones launched by India in multiple cities of the Pakistan.

The actual press conference on May 8 can be seen below.
