Israeli PM didn’t call Afghan Taliban leader a ‘partner’
A video shows Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu in a joint address with Indian PM Narendra Modi at the Knesset announcing full support for the Afghan Taliban government.
He is also heard saying that Israel and India stand shoulder to shoulder in their support for Afghanistan to combat cross border terrorism.
The video gained importance after Indian PM Modi visited Israel on this second trip to the country and the first of his third term. He also became the first Indian leader to address the Israeli Parliament, Knesset, and received the highest parliamentary award.
Several social media users used the occasion to spread fake news and misinformation, including that Israel and India have offered support for Afghanistan.

Pakistan journalist, Wajahat Kazmi, posted the video on X, captioned, “Israeli PM Netanyahu, in a joint address with Indian PM Narendra Modi at the Knesset, announced full support for the Afghan Taliban government to combat cross border terrorism. He stated that Israel and India stand shoulder to shoulder in their support for Afghanistan.”
The video has been viewed 251,000 times.
An X account, The Whistle Blower, which regularly shares manipulated videos and spreads misinformation, also posted the video with the same caption. The video was also share on social media as seen here, here, here, here, here, and here.
A transcript of the Israeli PM’s alleged speech is as follows:
“I understand the plight of Afghanistan is highlighted by my dear friend Prime Minister Modi. Afghanistan is suffering. Afghanistan remains a strategic partner of India and thus we consider Haibatullah as a partner of Israel.
“Afghanistan is doing its best to fight terrorism inside South Asia and requires all the support possible. For this, we shall be announcing a special aid package for Afghanistan on the request of Honorable Prime Minister Modi.”

The video is manipulated and has AI-generated audio recording. The Israeli PM has not made any remarks on supporting Afghanistan.
The video has a logo of Economic Times, and the Indian media outlet has not published the remarks. The Indian PM have no reference to Afghanistan, Taliban or Pakistan in his address to the Israeli parliament.
