FALSE: Weapons seized from Iran rioters were not ‘Pakistani-made’
India-based social media accounts reported that “Pakistani-made” weapons have been seized in Iran from rioters used in protests that gripped the nation.
Iran has been gripped by deadly protests in various parts of the country since December 28, 2025. The authorities have imposed an internet shutdown, restricted international calls and messaging, and launched a sweeping crackdown on protestors.
There was a heightened risk of US intervention as President Donald Trump called on the protestors to continue as “help was on the way”. Iranians reacted to the imminent risk of US airstrikes and vowed to retaliate by attacking US bases in the regions.
In the current situation, there has been a heightened risk of misinformation being spread on social media. Fact Check Pakistan has noted the spread of disinformation from India-based or supportive accounts.

An Indian account on X that regularly posts content against Pakistan said, “Iran has released official footage showing Pakistani-made weapons it says were seized from rioters in Tabriz. The disclosure is raising serious questions about cross-border arms flows and external involvement.”
