Video showing drone display of Field Marshal Asim Munir is AI-generated
Several digital media outlets and social media accounts shared a short video displaying an image of Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, claiming a drone display was held in Karachi on New Year’s Eve.
The 16-second video shows an image of the army chief and a flag of Pakistan illuminating in the sky. It was claimed that drone display was held in Karachi to pay tribute to the military leader.

Fact Check
Fact Check Pakistan determined the video is AI-generated and deemed fake.
The exact location of where the display was held is not provided. There are no spectators or crowd normally seen during New Year celebrations.
The visualization is not a drone display that would require hundreds of quadcopters, but instead shows LED lights.
The video was also analyzed by AI detection tools that confirmed the video is AI-generated. Hive Moderation analysis said the “the video is likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content.”

Google Gemini’s analysis said, “This video was created or edited using Google’s AI tools. While the audio doesn’t contain an AI watermark, the visual elements show clear signs of AI generation.
“It appears to be a digital manipulation, likely created to celebrate the 2026 New Year, featuring an image of General Asim Munir and the Pakistani flag.”
Thus, it has been concluded that the video showing a drone display featuring Field Marshal Asim Munir is AI-generated. Thus, the claims that the display was held in Karachi on New Year’s Eve are fake.
