Fact Check: Video of Imran Khan’s sons on participating in ‘active politics’ is altered

A video shared on social media shows an interview of the sons of former prime minister Imran Khan – Kasim and Sulaiman Khan – saying that they would return to Pakistan and participate in politics if their father was harmed in prison.

This video was shared on social media by several users as seen here and here. The video can be seen below.

A translation of the text in the video says,

“If you do see him, what are you likely to say? Do you think that you would say, look, you’ve spent this time in prison, you’ve done your time, you know, perhaps look at cutting a deal? I have heard that they may kill our father. If that happens, we have both decided that we will go back to Pakistan and start active politics to avenge what they did to him.”

Fact Check

Fact Check Pakistan determines the video has been doctored using AI tools with a voiceover dubbing that resonates Imran’s son.

The video is a clip of the interview taken by journalist Yalda Hakim for Sky News. The complete interview has been posted on YouTube and other social media platforms.

A careful analysis of the video shows the words have said during the interview. Thus, the claims that Imran’s son will return to Pakistan and participate in politics if their father is killed in prison are false.
