Several India-based social media accounts shared the news that ten Pakistan Army soldiers have been killed in an attack by the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

An Indian propaganda account, which regularly posts content against Pakistan, said, “10 Pakistan soldiers killed after TTP rebels ambushed a Pakistan Army convoy heading towards Ghulam border area along Pak-Afghan border near Azad Mandi bazar.”

The news was shared by other social accounts as seen here, here, here, and here. It was also reported that the attack was carried out by the Afghan Taliban.

Fact Check

Fact Check Pakistan determined the news is fake, while it was found the video of the alleged attack relates to an unrelated incident in Karachi in 2024 when Chinese nationals were targeted near the airport.

A basic Google Reverse Image search reveals the video relates to the attack in Karachi. The news was video reported by the Pakistani and foreign media.

It was also known that there has been no attack along the border area in which ten soldiers were martyred, neither have any incident been reported by the military or local media.

Thus, it has been concluded that the reports of the attack on Pakistan Army soldiers are FALSE, while the video is old and unrelated.
