Saeeda Imtiaz is hale and hearty

For a day (April 18), Pakistani actress Saeeda Imtiaz was declared dead by the Pakistani media – they based this on a post on the actress’s verified Instagram account which claimed that she had been found dead in her home in Lahore – however it turned out to be not true

Her Instagram account had been hacked and later the actress issued a video statement saying that she is alive and was upset at what had happened. The pic above in the first tweet is a screengrab of that video statement.

What is revealing about the level of fact-checking in the mainstream media is that many news websites carried this story without first trying to figure out who exactly posted the claim on the actress’s Instagram account and checking (say with family) if it was in fact true.
